SSI Payment Schedule 2026: Official Dates & Early Checks

SSI Payment Schedule 2026: When Will Your Next Check Arrive?

Managing your budget on a fixed income means knowing exactly when your funds will hit your bank account. In 2026, the Social Security Administration (SSA) follows its standard "1st of the month" rule—but with a few important twists that could leave you with two checks in one month and none in the next.

Here is the official 2026 SSI Payment Calendar to help you stay ahead.

The 2026 "Early Payment" Rule

Normally, SSI is paid on the 1st day of the month. However, if the 1st falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a federal holiday, the SSA sends your payment on the preceding business day.

In 2026, this happens several times, creating "Double Payment Months."

Why Do I Get Two Checks in One Month?

Don't worry—the second check isn't a mistake or a "bonus." It is simply your payment for the following month arriving a day or two early. For example, in January 2026, you will receive two payments: one on Jan 30 (for February) and one on Feb 27 (for March).

Critical Tip: Because your February payment arrives in late January, you will not receive an SSI check during the actual month of February. Plan your rent and utility payments accordingly!

What If My Payment Is Late?

The SSA recommends waiting at least three business days before reporting a missing payment. If your check hasn't arrived by then:

  • Contact your bank or financial institution first.
  • Log in to your "My Social Security" account online.
  • Call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213.
